Kimi Ni Todoke – Episode 7 – Saturday Night

Reaching You Episode 7

Sawako was cooking at her house when the residence phone suddenly rang. Her mom picked it up and was shocked to found out that they were Sawako’s friends. She picked it up and answered Chizu’s call which was all about eating at a Ramen store together with Yano. In panic, she asked her parents permission and was allowed to go.

You're doing it wrong Yano-san!
You’re doing it wrong Yano-san!

It was Sawako’s first time to be eating with her friends, Chizu suggested a “Miso Ramen*” and she followed. Later on, Ryu appeared on the scene and was revealed to be the son of the owner of the Ramen shop.He served water to Chizu who complained why there was nothing in the jar. After eating, Chizu guided Sawako and Yano to Ryu’s room, which she did without shame. A bit of a scene involves Yano’s boyfriend calling her, but no face was revealed.

Ryu appeared after Yano and Chizu taunted at each other about men. Yano revealed that Chizu defeated 99 men… except one, and it was Ryu. Sawako made a conclusion that the two of them were lovers , Ryu didn’t acknowledge nor denied but smiled at Sawako. Yano then re-confirmed Ryu to acknowledge or deny, Ryu replied with a yes which Chizu complained. But then Ryu added that he acknowledges Chizu is like a brother.

Sawako and her friends were looking at Ryu’s old class yearbook. Ryu, Chizu, and Kazehaya were close friends ever since middle school and Sawako enjoyed looking at Kazehaya’s picture of his old self. Kazehaya was invited later on when Sawako called him through Ryu’s phone. Upon arriving, he was almost spotted by Pin. He then proceeded upstairs and complained at Chizu and Yano’s backstabbing about his hair, but he gave up when he saw Sawako and sat beside her blushing.

The Sadistic Yano-san!

Enjoying the scene, Sawako smiled brightly which Chizu used to make fun of Kazehaya. The sadistic Yano however, thought of a much better way to tease the prince by letting Sawako sat between her and Chizu and snuggling her. Kazehaya was hiding his jealousy and was silent but Yano was smirking so hard to watch his expression.

Pin caught the faint sounds of laughter of the gang that he barged into the party and revealed to everyone that Kazehaya’s dad was his little league coach. He then asked why everyone was not afraid of Sawako, but Yano interrogated him and asked him some spiritual related questions that Pin ended up a conclusion that he had strong spiritual senses. Sawako suggested to have a salt bath to warm himself up, but Pin thought its an exorcism which he thanked her for the advice.

The small celebration ended and it was time to part. Sawako was suppose to go home alone but Kazehaya told her that he will buy something so he will accompany her. Back outside the Ramen Shop, Chizu then asked Ryu about his girl preference. Ryu admitted he likes dull people, and Chizu told him he was a maniac. He then told her that he knows what she was doing. Chizu blushed but didn’t said anything. Pin and Yano went home together, unexpectedly that is. Pin was afraid of ghosts and made an excuse that going alone is creepy. Then the scene goes back at Sawako and Kazehaya, they still mentioned about how Kazehaya changed everything for her and he giggled at her exaggerated response. Sawako then asked him what he will buy at the convenience store, but Kazehaya made an excuse and pretended that he forgot.

Impressions:

What really draws me into this Anime is the innocent atmosphere of falling in love. Sawako may have those cliche dialogues but seriously, don’t you just find it cute? It’s as if I can relate it to a 13-yaer old’s first crush and still not realizing everything after those obvious hints but I still love the slow progression. Why? Because I agree that falling in love too fast is way too cliche and true love is patient. I hate sudden relationships that’s why I really love how Kimi Ni Todoke layered a step-by-step development and the chemical reaction between her and Kazehaya can really make my stomach tickle. I really don’t know why, but it’s like watching two children and it makes you feel very light inside.

And a special mention goes to Ryu for having more scenes in this episode. Wow, he can be two times as cute as Kazehaya if he smiles and 100x times as much as sexy if he gives that dark stare. Don’t mind me, I’m just fan-girling around *whistles*.

I really enjoyed Kazehaya and his tiny attempts of making a move to Sawako, plus his cute way of hiding his jealousy when Yano made Sawako sat between her and Chizu. The sadistic side of me was satisfied XD .

Final Verdict: B+
